Due to an internal promotion, fast-paced manufacturer is seeking a Safety Specialist to report to the EHS Manager and assist with execution and leading of the site safety plan. Daily you will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Monitor, improve and regulate the site safety, health and environmental policies and processes
- Keep updated documentation related to safety policies and regulations
- Assist with creating and delivering safety and environmental training to team members
- Operate as a shop floor liaison and promote a safety-oriented culture
- Participate in Lean and Kaizen activities and directives for the plant
- Complete accident investigations and reports
- Ensure all PPE is on site and available as needed
- Lead the emergency response team
- Support the EHS Manager with BWC
- Perform new hire orientation safety training
- Utilize the LMS system, including documentation of training
- Complete needed safety and environmental testing
- Ensure all paperwork is completed and filed accurately
- Assist with the recycling program
- Complete additional tasks as assigned
Candidates should be eager to learn, able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, enjoy building relationships on the manufacturing floor, be process improvement minded and have excellent problem solving skills. Individuals should enjoy spending 50-60% or more of their time on the manufacturing floor, requiring candidates to be able to walk 2-4 miles daily as needed.

REQUIREMENTS for the Safety Specialist:
1. Bachelor's Degree in a related field with at least 1-3 years of similar safety work experience

2. Experience supporting safety initiatives in manufacturing environments
3. Experience completing incident investigations
3. Experience completing incident investigations
4. Experience performing safety training, with a willingness to create training and deliver it to large groups at a time
5. Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Skills preferred but NOT required:
1. CSP and/or GSP certifications
